Sei bella come sei by Clio Zammatteo

Yesterday I finished reading my first book of 2016, yay!

It's a novel written by the most famous Italian makeup guru, Clio Zammatteo aka ClioMakeUp, with the help of a young author called Elisa Gioia.

Clio started uploading videos in 2008 after moving to New York to attend a makeup course at MUD. Even after becoming famous on YouTube and starting her makeup artist career in NY, she hasn't changed her personality and she's still the honest, shy girl she was at the beginning. I really love the positive attitude she shows in her videos, blog posts and when she goes on TV. There's no Italian makeup lover who hasn't watched at least one of her videos. I really trust her opinions, she always seems so genuine and sweet. Watching her videos feels like listening to a friend or big sister, and I love that.

The story she wrote is a novelisation of her own experience back to the time when it all started. The plot is mainly about New York, makeup, friendships and love. It's a light novel, to me it felt almost like a fanfiction, but this didn't stop me from enjoying every single page.
The title, "Sei bella come sei", means "you're beautiful just the way you are" and it's something her grandma used to tell her when she felt insecure about her appearence.

2016 Book Challenge

Some days ago my boyfriend found out about the Popsugar Reading Challenge and asked me to take a look at it. I thought it was a good idea because it's not a reading challenge that actually gives you titles, but just some ideas. The things they wrote down for the challenge are various and allow people to try different kinds of books, picking the one that suits them best for every category.

Since one of my new year's resolutions is to read as much as possible (as I tried to do in 2015) I decided to give it a go. I'll keep you updated with the books I'm reading and at the end of the year we'll be able to see how far I managed to go with the challenge.

Here's the picture and a link to the website, in case you want to join me in this adventure.

The first book I've picked up is The Cypress Tree by Kamin Mohammadi. I've received it as a Christmas gift from a friend and I'm really looking forward to reading it because I love to learn more about cultures I don't know well.

Let me know if you're taking part in any challenge this year, I'd love to keep updated with your success.
