If you had one wish right now...

About a month ago I was browsing Twitter and I came across this poll that Jemma from Dorkface (founder of #TheGirlGang) had created. She asked "If you had one wish right now, which of these things would it be concerning?" and the four options were Money, Health, Career and Love.

It might look like a silly, innocent Twitter poll, but this "simple" question started a war in my head.

At first my thoughts went back to what my boyfriend went through in the past year and I immediately thought of answering Health, but then I started thinking more generally and pondered the four options well. I felt a bit stupid for a while - spending all my morning thinking about some Twitter poll - but I soon realised it was actually a relevant topic, one that can definitely sum up four main things in everyone's life. All four are relevant and I definitely need (and want) all four, and probably everyone does.

I thought about love, how I would be desperate if anything happened to my beloved boyfriend or our relationship; I thought about money, how I could do with some more money, especially now that I'm about to take the big step and move out of my parents' house; I thought about career, how I'd love to finally find my path, something that I love to do and that makes me feel accomplished. But my mind kept going back to one thing, all the time: health.

I asked myself: would you really care about your career, if you were so ill that you couldn't even have one? And yes, money could pay for meds and ops, but would that really matter, if all money in the world could not really help you with the diseases you might get? I have Love, I am loved. I have the best boyfriend in the world, and in the few years we've been together we've already faced some health issues. Maybe it was only the tip of the iceberg, and yet I've already understood how much health can change things. I'd rather let my love go and let him be happy and healthy than see him slowly losing interest in life because of some health issue (not that the two things - being together and being healthy/ill - are related in any way; I hope you get my point).

So I went back to the poll and chose Health.

But in the end, all four matter, and honestly I'd rather not have to just pick one.

All of this personal rambling was just to say that I have decided I'll start a tiny blog series about money, health, career and love. I still haven't decided wether I'll post it every three/four months, or just whenever any of the four changes a bit, but I thought it could be a good idea, just to share a bit of my life with you, and keep you up to date with some relevant steps of my life, along with my hauls and reviews and light-hearted posts.

Still have to find a title for this series, hope I'll come up with something original (suggestions accepted).

See you soon with my first post of this kind,
Marti xx

  1. Ok well that's a tricky one. At first I thought about money (I mean, "Money doesn't make you happy" but it helps and I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks that). But as long as I kept reading your post, I started to think about: in the last period I had to face mental illness and problems like that (not mine but my boyfriend's) and in the end I think I would have chosen "Health" too.
    Great topic btw.

Anyway, can't wait to see you.

    1. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, I find it very interesting to hear different points of view on this matter. And yes, I think money is VERY important too, of course one can survive with little money but it would mean giving up lots of dreams and opportunities; think travels, live shows, museums, experiences that most of the times are not cheap but are really useful to grow wiser and learn about culture and so on. Money is often associated with a shallow, materialistic life but that's not always the case.

      See you next week (hopefully),
      Marti
