Lipstick Love

Hey there! I found this nice lipstick-related tag while browsing the web, and thought it could be a good starting point to talk about lip products. I found it on The Makeup Honey, feel free to check out Sian's answers and do the tag yourself.

  • What was the first lipstick you ever owned?

If I remember correctly, the first time I decided to be brave and get myself a lipstick I actually ended up getting two - Essence Coralize Me and Essence Sparkling Romance. I've bought them about six years ago and used them up almost completely. I've recently thrown them in the bin because they were really battered and I wasn't using them anymore. They were the perfect formula for beginners, really moisturising and low coverage, almost like tinted lipbalms. They were perfect for school, I didn't have to worry about smeared lipstick all the time because they faded away nicely and I could easily reapply them in the bathroom without being too accurate.

The oldest lipstick that I still own and use is Kiko Smart Lipstick number 11. It belongs to an old collection, I don't think they stock it anymore. I might have actually bought this one before the Essence ones but unfortunately I can't remember. It's a pinky, MLBB shade that I really like, and it's still one of my favourite and most worn lip products.

  • Which lip product has been the biggest disappointment?
Probably Barry M Genie. I love the idea of it, I like how it looks on me, it is moisturising and definitely long lasting, the only problem I have with it is that it's a bit patchy, and that's not the best thing for a lipstick, but I try to use it anyway. I guess the patchiness might be caused by the fact that it reacts with the lips, and my lips are a bit uneven, with dry areas and small cuts that definitely do not help when applying products.

  • Which lipstick is your holy grail product?
At the moment I can't just mention one holy grail product, I have about three go-to lip products, and the one I use the most is not even a proper lipstick. They are Kiko Ultra Glossy Stylo 812 Amarena (what a cute name, I didn't even know it was called like that), Essence 06 Barely There! and Benefit Ultra Plush Lip Gloss in Lollibop (which, as I said earlier, is not a lipstick).

  • Roughly how many lipsticks do you own?
Ten lipsticks (and four lip glosses). Ten? Really?? It seems such a small number for a person who loves lip products, the truth is I'm really selective so every time I realise I'm not using something I either throw it or give it to a friend, plus I'm trying to keep my makeup collection on the small side because I love to know and use every single item in my collection, so I think it will stay like this for a while (actually, as I type this, a MAC lipstick is being shipped to my address, but that's another story).

  • If you could only ever have 3 lip products for the rest of your life, which 3 would they be and why?
First of all, some kind of lip balm (I don't have a favourite at the moment) because that's something I absolutely need all year round. Then maybe I would pick two lipsticks, one should be a my-lips-but-better kind of lipstick (again, still have to find my favourite here) and the other could be a natural yet darker colour, classy and perfect for a night out or for a more daring look.

  • Matte or glossy?
Uh, I would generally say I like matte more, but I usually end up looking for the moisturising effect, so maybe an in-between would be good. Definitely not sticky glossy, yuck.

  • Which is the most expensive lipstick you own?
As hinted earlier, I'll soon get my first MAC lipstick, and that's going to be the most expensive lipstick that I own. Up until now, most of the lipsticks that I own costed me between 5 and 7 euros, and I wouldn't call them expensive.

However, two years ago some friends gifted me Chanel Rouge Allure lip gloss in Sensible for my birthday, and this year I was given a Benefit Ultra Plush Lip Gloss, so those are actually my properly expensive lip products - weird, as I've always considered myself more of a lipstick girl.

  • What is the cheapest lippie in your collection?
I think it's a tie between the Essence Barely There! and Kiko Smart Lipstick 11, both around 3€. Funnily enough, they're also two of my favourites.

  • What is your favourite non lipstick lip product?
Lush Mint Julips lip scrub. It might not be the most essential product that I own, but  it makes me feel like I'm pampering my lips every time I use it and that's nice.

  • What non traditional lip colour would you love to see come into fashion?
I don't really know if I'd use them, but I'd like to see a collection of pastel coloured lipsticks - light blue, mint green, pastel yellow and so on. And maybe white too, that would be cool. Actually, I think I'd love to try a white lipstick. Yay!

The questions are over, thank you for reading through all of this. Let me know your answers!
